Whether the protein of interest is a lead therapeutic, mutant variants of a lead protein, putative antigens for a sub-unit vaccine or protein target to be used in structural studies, rapid access to active protein is vital.

Pfēnex Expression Technology addresses that challenge through its unique ability to routinely achieve high cell densities (30 -50 OD) in 0.5 mL 96 well format. This enables Pfēnex scientists to rapidly generate active protein, thus enabling our partners to accelerate their drug discovery and development efforts.

By screening a smaller subset of engineered expression strains with several genes of interest, as the graph depicts, Pfēnex scientists can identify a strain or strains capable of producing a smaller, but sufficient target titer to meet the needs of a research program. In certain instances the expressed proteins may be fused to a purification tag for convenience of purification and testing.
